Rackline make Inroads into Storage Requirements

An ageing filing system, made up of traditional five drawer cabinets, was proving not only unattractive, but also cumbersome and inefficient for the team at the Department for Transport in London.

With hundreds of files and periodicals, all of which need to be accessed on a daily basis, there was a clear need for a new up to date filing system.

“When we combined the amount of space we needed for all our general
paperwork with the amount of storage space required by individuals, the
amount was phenomenal” explained Charlotte Bramham - Tate, assistant manager for moves and changes at the Department for Transport’s head office.

“We made the decision to move away from traditional filing systems towards a more space-saving solution, to improve our working environment both in visual and practical terms.

After consultations with several storage solution providers, we met with Rackline, who offered us both a faster turnaround time and a more robust product than their competitors - two factors which were very important to us.”

Rackline, specialists in storage solutions, installed one of it’s popular Monotrak Mobile systems into the main storeroom at the Victoria Street office, immediately giving more capacity and ease of access.

The system is laid directly onto the floor which means there isn't any need for floor preparation. If future relocation is required it will be a simple operation without incurring any reparation work or residual damage. The
system operates with just one track at the rear so there are no trip hazards in the aisles.

Axcess cabinets were provided next to workstations at both Victoria Street and Head Office premises for individual employees - and these units alone, with their small footprint and space saving accessories, compress
storage requirements into the smallest space possible.
