Requires Storage Innovation
Installation is an extremely important part
of the complete storage solution, especially when there is a major
relocation involved.
The relocation of a business or organisation is often the prompt
for a review of how important information is stored. When the Public
Guardianship Office (PGO) relocated from Holborn to Archway Tower
in London, they approached Rackline, specialists in complete storage
solutions, to provide an innovative solution which would allow staff
easy access to large volumes of client files.
The PGO protects the financial interests of people with mental
incapacity, and therefore client files form the basis of the organisation's
operations. And with 150 casework staff requiring access to over
25,000 client files, security is key.
Neil Lang, Head of Information and Records Management, said: "We
needed a uniform solution which would add to the aesthetic appeal
of our new open plan offices and which could be reformatted to meet
the changing demands of the organisation. We approached Rackline
after hearing about them through OGC's buying solutions catalogue."
After a complete audit and analysis of the company's requirements,
Rackline designed a space saving solution for 10 linear kilometres
of filing - split between PGO and an offsite location at Hayes.
This included 134 Axcess high density tambour units, 127 double
sided Pirouette cabinets and 30,000 pre-labelled filing wallets
- all of which were manufactured, delivered and installed with minimum
disruption in line with the fit-out programme for Archway Tower.
Neil Lang added: "Overall, Rackline offered the best value
for money. It was a complex and time sensitive project and the feedback
from our staff has been very positive. Rackline's approach was professional
- we are very satisfied with the flexibility the system provides."
Rackline's Sales Director, Andy Walker, comments: "The installation
was a real test of logistics planning. Access to the new building
was limited because of its location in London and Public Guardianship
needed to move within a tight time scale. Despite this, we delivered
120 tonnes of steel up 15 storeys, two weeks ahead of schedule.”
