Rackline drive forward a solution
The DVLA was set up in 1973. It holds details on 41.2 million drivers and 33.5 million vehicles. The DVLA is responsible for recording changes to the driver and vehicle register, issuing driving licences, registration documents and the collection and enforcing of vehicle excise duty. The site in Swansea issues 13.4m driver transactions, 7.3m driving licenses and 24.5m vehicle registrations per year. The DVLA receives over 18.9m telephone calls and 20m items of mail per year.

Rackline make Inroads into Storage Requirements
An ageing filing system, made up of traditional five drawer cabinets, was proving not only unattractive, but also cumbersome and inefficient for the team at the Department for Transport in London.

The Benefits Agency Cardiff
The Benefits Agency asked Rackline to design a system capable of storing the contents of 819 ten drawer cabinets and 391 four drawer cabinets, equating to a a storage capacity of 4,989 linear metres.

GCHQ Building Houses High Density Storage
The Government’s Communications HQ (GCHQ) previously occupied 50 inefficient buildings over two sites several miles apart in Cheltenham.

Carillion were awarded the contract to construct and manage a new HQ. The objective was to use the PFI process to develop a flexible, modern building into which they could decant their 4500 staff. This huge new accommodation will enable a flexible response to rapidly changing security situations and the threat of global terrorism.

A New Force in Library Storage
An efficient storage solution was paramount for the Joint Services Command and Staff College (JSCSC) when it transferred 200,000 books, monographs and journals to its new library in Shrivenham.
