Here at Rackline storage we have had the pleasure of working with some of the UK’s greatest institutions.  Most recently we have worked with the University of Leeds to help them with their storage solutions.

The University of Leeds has recently completed its Michael Marks Building. This unique building houses the M&S company archive.  The archive was moved from its home above the North London store and re-housed in the new building titled the Michael Marks Building.

The reason for the relocation was to protect the heritage and enable students and academics to make full use of the archive.  This particular archive houses over 60,000 items.  The M&S story can be told through the artifacts that are contained within the archive and it is important that the storage it is held in is bespoke to this.

Rackline were asked to complete this £400,000 contract to create mobile storage that housed it correctly.  The Multitrak system was put in place to enable full usage and storage of the archive.

Speaking out about the project is Rackline’s very own technical and projects manager, Andy Reed, who said, “We installed our mobile shelving units as they wanted to make these particular books more accessible to students and staff.

“We won the tender process as our proposed system provided the largest capacity while at the same time the most cost-effective solution.  The university has already installed other products from our range which have worked really well for them so we were delighted to be involved with another project.”
