The Museum has a large number of collections reflecting the diversity of life in the area with objects representing subjects such as farming, trades, crafts, industries, domestic life local government, childhood, fashion, transport and maritime history. Changes in the landscape are recorded through maps, prints, drawings, painting and large comprehensive photographic collection.
With a growing collection and the museum showing only a small part of it’s collection at any one time, the items not on display needed to be stored sympathetically, but with space at a minimum it also need to be stored effectively.
“Our collection is enormous and growing daily. The items we exhibit are as diverse as hat boxes to a double decker bus. A major concern for us was our irreplaceable costume collection which as you can image is fragile and needs to be stored safely and efficiently at all times. Rackline delivered a solution that addressed all our concerns and created additional storage that enabled us to reference and catalogue more than we expected”
