Recycle and reuse

It is no secret that in all of our everyday lives we over-use and waste far more than we need to.  This is the same in our workplaces and it is important that we do what we can to help take care of the environment we live in.

Here at Rackline storage we work hard to meet the objectives set out by the Earth Summit and other sustainability programmes.  But there are many things you can do in your office to help reduce your impact on the environment.

Here are a few top tips to help keep both your workplace and the environment clean and tidy:

Paper, glass and plastic

• Recycle waste paper
• Think carefully before printing out emails – encourage communications by email
• Reuse any waste paper that has only been printed on one side
• Provide separate bins to recycle plastic, paper and glass
• Aim to use mugs rather than plastic cups for tea and coffee

Reduce impact

• All cartridge toners can be returned to specific companies that recycle cartridges
• Encourage employees that live locally to walk and cycle to work
• Energy saving controls on the boiler and radiator help to reduce bills and impact
• Pick your suppliers carefully, do they consider their impact?
• Recycle office furniture
• Turn off all lights and heating when leaving the building each evening and weekend

There are many ways that you can help to reduce your carbon footprint, make your business greener and in turn, save money.
