Jamie Briggs is a specialist removals and storage provider based close to Bicester in Oxfordshire, UK. Established in 2000, the business is still family owned and operated, with a team that are experts in complex removals and storage provision.
Jamie Briggs boasts expertise across a huge cross section of sectors including : libraries, museums and galleries, education providers and commercial businesses. Together with temporary storage for their removal services, their warehouse also securely holds collections from several internationally recognised organisations.
The Requirement
With a growing client list, and a corresponding requirement for archive storage space, the Jamie Briggs team needed to maximise the space within their Oxfordshire warehouse. The warehouse is situated within an old aircraft hanger, which not only provides a large footprint, but also provides a high arched ceiling which the team wanted to utilise.
In order to achieve this, they were looking for a company that could undertake the installation of a number of items.
First, a high density storage solution, that should:
- Allow the maximum yield from the space
- Be adaptable to the ever changing and eclectic mix of items that pass through the warehouse.
- Keep items secure and in the best conditions
- Retain accessibility for the team.
Second, a mezzanine floor to make best use of the impressive height of the building and add a climate controlled storage area.
To undertake this challenge, the teams approached Rackline, the experts in archive storage and space maximisation. The team visited site to understand the building layouts, items to be stored and investigate any potential problems. Having spoken and worked closely with the Jamie Briggs team, Rackline then came up with their recommendations.
The Solution(s)
With experience in the sector, stretching back to 1984, the Rackline team instinctively knew the best solutions to fit the space and obstacles.
Mezzanine Floor:
Phase 1 of the archive storage installation involved the build of a mezzanine floor, which would allow them to effectively double the floor capacity and make the best use of the height of the space.
Archive Storage Shelving and High Density Roller Racking:
Phase 2 of the installation involved the installation of both static archive storage shelving and roller racking (mobile shelving) units. The shelving installed included Rackline Proform, and Widespan systems. Each configured to fit around obstacles and complement the installed mezzanine. The roller racking chosen was Rackline Multitrak, sitting on an in-fill double batten floor. This is an incredibly strong system designed to take the immense weights required, and provide large carriage spans.
The Result
The installed Mezzanine floor provides an intelligent use of the space, providing a huge capacity increase and providing for further expansion potential. The Rackline Widespan and Proform shelving solutions in both static and mobile configurations, provide approaching 2500 linear metres of shelf space, This is configured in a high density format that supports rapid aisle access, deposit and retrieval.
These installed systems provide, not only archive storage capacity for their current needs, but space for their expanding business. Rackline’s modular shelving systems are flexible to their ever changing inventory and are perfect for short term, or long term protection of client items.
